“Even If” - Faith That Won’t Bow!

This morning as I reflect on Daniel 3:17-18

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it. But “even if “He does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17–18)

I remembered years ago, after backsliding, yes, sis—I turned my back on the Lord. Your girl gave up! I thought to myself, “This Christian life is not as easy as I imagined.” I assumed that once I said yes to Jesus, blessings would simply fall into my lap. But instead, I found myself in test after test. Life felt harder, not easier.

What I didn’t understand then was this: when the Lord calls us, He’s not offering us a shortcut—He’s inviting us into a covenant with Him. Like any other relationship, a foundation must be laid. Trust must be built. Intimacy must be cultivated. We must learn His voice, His ways, and His heart.

But in my weakness, I tried to return to my old life. The truth is, once you’ve truly encountered Jesus Christ and received His Spirit, there is no going back to “life as usual.” I had experienced Him for myself. I knew His presence. I knew His love. Yet, I still tried to reject Him.

The Word says:

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance—since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” (Hebrews 6:4–6 NKJV)

The moment I turned back, the world seemed to reject me. Doors slammed shut. Jobs failed. Friendships dissolved. Poverty overtook me. I even found myself begging for food.

Why? Because when God has called you, He will not let you find peace or prosperity in rebellion. He meant business with me. He wanted me back, and he loved me that much to allow me to find comfort out there in the world. Whew, thank you Jesus!

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons. Hebrews 12:6-8

Eventually, I realized I had to return to Him. I tried so hard to fight it out there, thinking something would work out. Can anyone fight God?

“it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.”( Acts 9:5) This means: you are stubbornly resisting a force of authority or truth, and in doing so, you are only hurting yourself and increasing your own suffering.

But even then, the enemy tried to use those close to me to stop me from going back to the Lord. A family member said, You need to set your life in order first.” But I discerned it for what it was—the voice of Satan speaking through her unknowingly, just like when Peter tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross. And Jesus said,

“Get behind me, Satan! You are an offense to me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”(Matthew 16:23)

Let me tell you, the enemy will use the closest people to you, to keep you from God!

That day, I made up my mind. Like the three Hebrew boys standing before the fiery furnace,

I made that same vow before God: I told her, “Even if God doesn’t give me what I need right away, Even if he doesn’t provide the next meal, even if it doesn’t look like I thought it would, even if the next Man is as handsome as ever, I will not have sex before marriage.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. (1Corinthians 6:18)

” I was sick and tired of being sick and tired -I told her, “ I want nothing else from the devil, Everything that I now wanted is from God.” This time, I sincerely repented, I turned away from who I used to be and what I used to do. This time I wasn’t going to God because I was scared, this time it was because I needed Jesus Christ! I was done with Satan and what he had to offer in the world .

And He will supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:9)

Here’s the truth—everyone has a birthday when they enter this world, but there is also a day when the Father will call you to be born again into His Kingdom. The question is will you answer to the call of God?

(John 3:3) Jesus tells Nicodemus, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

And one day, death will come—whether we are ready or not. But when God knocks on your heart, will you answer? Will you leave it all behind and say, “Even if…”

Questions for You to Reflect On:

  • Have you ever tried to return to your old life, only to discover it no longer fits you?

  • Do you recognize that the resistance you feel in the world may actually be God pulling you closer to Himself?

  • When faced with pressure, can you boldly declare like the Hebrew boys: “Even if He doesn’t, I will still serve the Lord?”

  • What is God asking you to surrender today so you can walk fully in His purpose?

  • Prayer of Surrender

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I thank You for never letting me go. Even when I turned away, Your mercy pursued me. Today, I surrender afresh. Lord, I declare like the Hebrew boys—even if You don’t give me what I think I need, I will still serve You. Strengthen my faith to stand firm when the fire comes. Let every voice of the enemy be silenced, and may Your voice be the loudest in my life. I renounce every plan of the devil to pull me back into the world, and I say yes to Your call. From this day forward, my life belongs to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Amen and Amen🙌🏾 Thank You Jesus for not giving up on me. Thank you Sis for this blog! I needed this reminder today! I too was in a mind set of backsliding a few times but once you experience God those old habits and ways are not as satisfying as they were before you knew Him; meaning I was a new creature in God that was trying to pick up old things before God. I felt things were suppose to happen suddenly since I gave my life to God. So I tried helping God out, only to have to go back and ask God for forgiveness. Did I get it right over night ~ no ~ but God knew His…

There comes a time in every believer’s life when God stirs something deep within—a holy discomfort. It’s His way of saying, “You can’t stay here.” It doesn’t mean where you are is wrong, but it means He’s calling you higher. Higher in faith. Higher in obedience. Higher in purpose.
