Sis, can I ask you something? Are you in that “not yet” season?

  • Not yet promoted.

  • Not yet healed from the breakup.

  • Not yet married.

  • Not yet seeing the promises of God come to pass.

If so, I know exactly how you feel!

About thirteen years ago, I was in a relationship that I thought would last forever. I had dreams, expectations, and plans—but none of them lined up with God’s will for my life. Without warning, I was dropped like a bad habit hahaha.

Sis, I had been rejected before, but this one was different. This one cut me deep to the core. I never saw it coming.

I felt used, discarded, and foolish—because deep down, I had seen the red flags, but I ignored them. I was so desperate for love that I settled for something that wasn’t from God.

I thought life was over. But our sovereign, loving God… He used this heartbreak as a divine intervention. Just like the woman at the well in John chapter 4, I didn’t realize I needed to be stopped in my tracks. God knew I needed to be alone—truly alone—for the first time since leaving my parents’ home, God made a way for me to live alone, but little did I know, God was with me.

I had been carrying brokenness from my past into every relationship—wounds, trauma, rejection—and I was never truly healed. I wasn’t whole. I didn’t know how to be alone. But that season of isolation… became my meeting place with Jesus Christ.

It’s in the wilderness where God often whispers the loudest. He showed me what true love is by telling me and showing me through his word. He taught me to value myself through His eyes. He began to heal the little girl inside me who had been hurting for years.

And here’s what I’ve learned:Your “not yet” season is not punishment—it’s preparation. The hidden place is where God does His best work. It’s where He prunes you, molds you, and transforms you into the version of yourself He already knew before you were formed in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5).

That breakup I once thought would destroy me… became the door to my purpose, my healing, and my Kingdom marriage. But most importantly, it led me to fall in love with Jesus first.

Sis, maybe your “not yet” feels unbearable. Maybe you can’t see the outcome. But trust me—when you surrender your timing, desires, and plans into God’s hands, He will exceed your expectations. His will isn’t just good—it’s perfect(Romans 12:2).

Sometimes you have to pray like Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane and declare:“Nevertheless, not my will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).

And when you do… you’ll see that the waiting wasn’t wasted—it was working for your good.

Reflection Questions for You

  1. Are you embracing your “not yet” season or fighting against it?

  2. What old wounds might God be inviting you to surrender so you can heal?

  3. Have you truly made space for God to be your first love?

A Prayer for Your “Not Yet” Season

Father,I lay my plans, desires, and timeline at Your feet. Help me see that my “not yet” is not a denial—it’s a divine delay for my protection and preparation. Heal every wound from my past. Remove what is not from You and fill me with Your perfect love. Shape me into the woman You designed me to be before the foundations of the earth. I choose to trust Your timing, because I know You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There comes a time in every believer’s life when God stirs something deep within—a holy discomfort. It’s His way of saying, “You can’t stay here.” It doesn’t mean where you are is wrong, but it means He’s calling you higher. Higher in faith. Higher in obedience. Higher in purpose.
